Africa Election Fund
Addis Ababa Hub
The Africa Election Fund, launched by the GFFO and UNDP, aims to strengthen democracy in Africa through innovative and timely support to electoral processes. With an initial commitment of €3 million, the fund supports early phases of electoral cycles, pilot new approaches, manage risks and enhance collaboration among African Member States. It seeks to address challenges such as technological evolution, harmful social media practices and trust issues in democratic institutions. Moreover, the project aims to promote the participation of youth and women, enable early action to prevent conflicts, and leverage technology for greater citizen inclusion. UNDP’s extensive experience in electoral assistance makes Africa a key area of intervention for the fund.
